Blue Safari – An Intimate Encounter with the Perito Moreno Glacier
Embark on the Blue Safari, a journey designed for travelers eager to experience the majesty of the Perito Moreno Glacier from up close — both by land and water.
Your adventure begins in El Calafate, from where a scenic drive takes you through the Patagonian steppe into Los Glaciares National Park. Upon arrival at Puerto Bajo de las Sombras (just 7 km from the famous walkways), you'll board a boat for a short 20-minute navigation across Lago Rico, heading directly toward the glacier’s southern face.
After disembarking, a guided 30-minute walk through lenga forest and along the lake's edge brings you closer to the ice. With every step, the views become more spectacular — prepare to witness the glacier’s ever-changing blues and whites, and listen for the powerful cracks and crashes of ice calving into the water.
Once you reach the edge of the ice, you’ll enjoy an unforgettable viewpoint, ideal for photos and quiet awe. The return walk — about 1.5 km over a natural path of sand, stone, gentle slopes, and wooden stairs — offers unique perspectives of the glacier and the surrounding wilderness.
Back at the boat, you’ll embark again to sail just meters from the towering ice wall, where you'll marvel at its intricate textures, deep crevices, and brilliant colors — a moving display of nature’s artistry.
After the navigation, the bus will take you to the panoramic walkways, where you'll have two full hours to explore the viewing platforms and enjoy your packed lunch with breathtaking views of the glacier from above.
As the day ends, we return to El Calafate, hearts full and senses awakened by one of Patagonia’s greatest natural wonders.
Important: The Blue Safari takes place in a wild and dynamic natural setting. Weather and glacier conditions can vary each day, but the tour operates as scheduled unless safety is at risk.
We look forward to sharing this extraordinary experience with you!
