New Entry Requirement for Argentina Effective July 1, 2025
As of July 1, 2025, all foreign visitors to Argentina—regardless of their entry method or length of stay—must present valid health insurance or medical assistance coverage for the full duration of their visit, as established by Executive Decree 366/2025.This regulation applies to all non-resident travelers, including tourists, seasonal or temporary workers, international students, and others holding non-permanent immigration status.

The insurance must, at a minimum, include:
- Basic healthcare
- Emergency medical treatment
- Hospitalization
- 24/7 medical assistance by phone
- Medical transportation or evacuation
- Repatriation for health reasons or in the event of death
Travelers who do not comply with this regulation may be denied entry by immigration authorities. Additionally, any medical expenses incurred during their stay without appropriate coverage will be the sole responsibility of the traveler.
It is important to note that in the case of a medical emergency, no foreign national will be denied access to care or social assistance, regardless of immigration status.
Permanent residents of Argentina will continue to have access to the public healthcare system under the same conditions as Argentine citizens. For all other non-resident foreigners, access to public healthcare facilities will require either proof of valid insurance or advance payment, in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines.
Travelers are strongly advised to purchase appropriate health insurance prior to departure and to ensure that the policy remains valid for the entire length of their stay in Argentina. It is recommended to carry a copy of the insurance policy, either printed or in digital format, at all times during the trip.
